Fifth Annual Historic Home Tour
Mission Hills Heritage is pleased to announce its Fifth Annual Historic Home Tour, to be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009.
This year’s tour spotlights the neighborhood of South Mission Hills and its diverse architectural styles. As always, the historic home tour is our biggest event of the year.
The historic home tour involves docent-led tours of the interiors of several beautiful and historic, privately-owned homes. The homes are located in distinct subdivisions in the South Mission Hills neighborhood. Homes on this tour will include the castle-like 1926 Spanish Eclectic masterpiece first owned by oil and shipping magnate Oakley J. Hall. Another home is a rare 1904 Victorian/National Folk-style dwelling. Other architectural styles represented on this tour are Prairie, Craftsman and Spanish Revival. Admission includes a souvenir tour booklet with information about the homes and an overview of the historical background and development of the South Mission Hills area.
Tour hours are 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Advance tickets are $20 for Mission Hills Heritage members and $25 for non-members, and can be purchased by mailing a check to Mission Hills Heritage, 325 W. Washington Street, #221, San Diego, CA 92103, by no later than April 10, 2009. Tickets are also available on the day of the event, starting at 10:00 a.m. “Will call” for advance purchase tickets and the ticket office on the day of the event will be at 1214 Sutter Street. Only cash and personal checks accepted. Proceeds benefit preservation efforts in Mission Hills.
